The Tuscaloosa County Public Works Department maintains county roads, county-owned property, or right-of-way along county-maintained roads.

To find out if a road is county-maintained or for right-of-way information, please provide the following information when you call:

  • The name of the road
  • The address of the location, or the house number closest to that location
  • Any cross streets or landmarks, if a house number is not available
  • The property’s parcel information (found on the deed), including section, township, and range, if available

If there is an emergency situation (such as a downed tree on a public road) outside of our office hours (Monday – Friday, please call the Sheriff’s Department at (205) 752-0616 to report the problem.

The department is also responsible for road and traffic signs. Please contact the office for more information.

The Public Works Department recommends all residents visit the US Postal Service’s Web page regarding Mailbox Regulations.
