How do I get a replacement title?
Applications for replacement titles can be processed at any of the three Tuscaloosa County License Office locations for a cost of $18 each. The vehicle owner can also apply directly to the state by completing the Application for Replacement Title (available online at https://www.revenue.alabama.gov/faqs/how-do-i-apply-for-a-replacement-title/), and returning it along with a cashier’s check or money order for $15 to the address at the top of the application.

How do I transfer my title to Alabama?
If transferring an Alabama title, you will need to bring the following:
- Original Alabama Title (Properly Assigned to the Buyer)
- Bill of Sale
- Driver License
- Insurance (Policy Number & NAIC Number)
- Proof of Residency
If there is a name change, you will need the bring the following:
- Original Title
- Legal Name Change Document (e.g. Marriage Certificate, Divorce Decree, Name Change Form from Probate Judge’s Office, etc.)
- Insurance (Policy Number & NAIC Number)
- Driver License
- Proof of Residency

Do I need a title for my vehicle?
The State of Alabama requires the following types of vehicles to be titled:
- Motor vehicles 35 model years old or newer,
- Motorcycles 35 model years old or newer,
- Motor homes (RV’s) 35 model years old or newer,
- Travel trailers (including horse trailers with sleeping quarters) 20 model years old or newer,
- Collapsible/Pop-up trailers 20 model years old or newer,
- Semi-trailers (including goosenecks, fifth wheels, and horse trailers) 20 model years old or newer,
- Manufactured homes 20 model years old or newer.
