About This Special Election

At the request of the Tuscaloosa County School System (‘School System’), the Tuscaloosa County Commission, in accordance with AL Code § 16-13-181 (2013), set a special election for levy of a five mill and three mill special district school tax. As requested by the School System, the date of the election will be on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. You can view a sample ballot here.

AL Code § 16-13-181 (2013) states:

“Upon the written request of the county board of education or of the board of education of any city having a city board of education for a special election in any school tax district under the control of the respective board, the county commission shall call an election at the time and for the rural or city school tax districts as requested by the respective board of education..” 

Who Can Vote?

Eligible voters outside of the municipal limits of the City of Tuscaloosa will be able to vote in this special election. For questions related to voter eligibility or registration, please contact the Board of Registrars at 205.464.8415. Please note that the polling locations will be the same as any countywide election. Results will be posted online at www.tuscco.com/election-results/ following the closing of polls at 7:00pm.
